Today 29th September where has the year gone? We hope you are all catching up on things you'd not have normally done while staying home, be that reading, gardening, mass clean up or home repairs.
The year started out for us not one of being in lock down or isolation but staying home due to Sue's recovery from a hip replacement. That melded into Corona Virus "stay at home!".
Like many it cut events such as seeing family or having them come visit or friends and even neighbours for a while.
To all those loners well done you've had years of practice. To all who are ravers or need people around we hope you are not struggling to much. Shopaholics well you have the internet shopping just not the income to splurge as much.
The Jig Borer continued to be stripped down throughout May but came to a grinding halt in June.
I did get the headstock stripped to the bone though prior that.
Colder weather coming on and Sue was improving and feeling much better and getting around far better, almost like she'd never had a hip problem. She was back into cooking again whipping up some real nice fare.
Prawn Laksa, Lemon Drizzle Cake using our own Lemons.
A variety of Jam, Marmalade and Pickles.
Baking bread, Sough dough, ANZAC's, cookies, an Apple and Cinnamon Cake over June and July.
By the end of June we had been well into an ensuit and bathroom modifications, this is still on going 😠through NDIS, I kid you not. Long delays and re-doing stupid mistakes by those performing the major work have not made for a pleasant journey. Which we were quoted 4 to 5 weeks. This is week 14 we are close but not quite there yet.
First up was modification to the ensuit shower which would give me somewhere to shower during the main bathroom demolition and rebuild.
Removal of a single hinged swinging door, raising the recess of the shower floor and re-tiling. New Bi-slide shower screen installed.
Ah to be clean again.
I'll post the main bathroom modification once its completed, as I said almost there, maybe Christmas? We hope long before, it is usable such as shower and toilet but missing a vanity and shave cabinet and grab rail.
Mean while as trying to produce anything either in the workshop or Sue indoors was not conducive to the amount of dust created during the process. Or the time required, being in some way brought into matters to do with the remodel. Weather played a small factor also.
When Sue got the chance and kitchen was clean enough to work in (no dust from demolition a chore daily to clean). She still made bread etc. I enjoyed a fresh baked bread and bacon and egg sanga for breakfast.
Corona Virus was within our region and so Sue like so many others set to and made masks, this is just some of them.
Also in June we decided to give the house a birthday present as we have been here 4 years, a spruce the roof up with a good clean. I felt sorry for the two fellows the day started off nice and sunny and went down hill with overcast and icy cold winds off the snow (yes we get snow in QLD)
It's strange to see things blooming in winter and tomatoes growing so well (no frost) but this is QLD.
Still hints that winter is on its way as the Pomegranate begins to change colour.
The Chinese Elm and Crepe Myrtle also just two of my Bonsia.
August saw one of our Roses bloom giving Sue an arm full. Yes they are the same roses and it is the light sunshine which has altered the colour.
More birthday presents for around the house with some new Censor lights covering every corner and entry making it easy for both of us and an early warning also.
I'll continue shortly.
