Lots of Odd Jobs

As always around the home lost of need to do ASAP jobs crop up as well as time for our selves.

 I needed to remove 15mm from the front door inside ramp as the  25mm+ wedge thin edge was to high and difficult to wheel out backwards with.

Cut up into turning blanks some of the Blue Gum from the neighbours removed tree.

Picked up some new tool box adornments from Hare & Forbes open sale day.

 

Sue has been busy in side and out more Marmalade  Lime and Ginger this time.

Major garden remake with planting of some new fruit trees. Avocado, replace a few Lilli Pilli a Mandrin and a Poinciana.

Carding, Dying fibre and spinning Alpaca 51 batts of Black Opal, 27 of the Eucalypt dyed Alpaca and 30 batts of the Green solar dyed commercial acid dye.

Removing the weaving.
This being a Mohair warp a Merino silk, Cotton and Flax weft spun after winning the Flax batt at Tamworth show almost 22 years ago.

There was approx 6cm woven by Bianca with Nana's help and approx 4cm by Nathan on his own.

A baking day, Banana cake, Ginger and Date, Apple pies, ANZAC's, Muffins, Chester slice with Chocolate..

 

Melaney Wood Expo 2017

Melaney is an inland hinterland village located in the most lush surroundings with an most pleasant drive into and out of especially if going via Woodford and Kilckoy. The views are spectacular over looking the Glass House Mountains and valleys, (sorry no photos this time).

We have been to Sydney wood show, Kiama Woodies show, Newcastle wood show if you rolled all those into one thats Melaney. The total relaxed atmosphere along with the Landcare Enviromental displays as well as wood and tool merchants. Music plays in the background all around the grounds. Wheelchair access is generally good but grass, entry to pavilions means a strong helping hand due to incline of ramps and roads.

Meeting up with friends old and new during the day.

The expo not just about vendors but artisans and hands on try outs.

Below my purchases a 800x200x150 Australian Red Cedar. A mixed bag of off cuts Concalberry, Red Gum,  Purple Gidgee.

 One Monday Richard came over and we had a play with the new hollowing tool on a piece of Jacaranda.

Fruit Of Thy Labour

Sue has been making jams and an Asian style dipping sauce both out of Plums.

A beautiful Plum jam went well with the fresh made scones.

Asian spicy dipping or marinade sauce and yes it has a kick.

The jars on the left are the Asian Sauce.
The garden in the back yard got a bit of a make over, as well as some lawn weeding by Sue who has meticulously and methodically been removing the Paspalum, the commercial stuff just seemed to make it grow more. The 3rd photo below shows the extent of the area she has done but thats only this section. She has also done a majority of the area towards the back fence.
The Lemon tree is at last showing signs of new growth, the addition of a Mandarin tree which is still finding its place in the yard.
The Lime bearing fruit, Sue too length to have an Avocado grow from the seed, since taking this photo last week it has grown a further 6".
The Tomato plants she put in Sue had laid down on the ground and like the vine they are one has taken hold of the Uforbia or maybe its a new breed of tomato?
