Lack of Posts

The lack of posts is due to utter slackness on my part I take full blame.  This post is really just a catch up of what's been happening between October last year and now. Where's the year gone it is the 7th March already, this time last year saw the world in lock down due to Covid19. I stopped our son and grandson from coming to visit to race nitro remote control cars in a world titles run. Here's hoping that next fortnights State titles run isn't cancelled.

I'll jump right back in time to August when our neighbours were having a pool installed and with any such in ground pool there is need for excavation. I saw the opportunity for some top soil and possibly more, a quick word with the neighbour then spoke with the site boss and then bobcat man. Of course pool was priority but all were glad not to have to dump it elsewhere. Bobcat guy was brilliant $50 for 15 cube+ of dirt not just dumped on the front lawn but moved around the back to level the great dip as well as compacted and spread as best he could. Then the front lawn also.

The new crane used to hoist the pool in over the house was magic to see.

Sue spent months racking river peddles and pulling out weeds as they began to grow.




We had a dust bowl for ages watering just wasn't enough we needed good rain fall.

The truck design caught my eye, straight off the screen as though right out of Thunderbirds itself. My interest in Motor Vehicle Building, design and engineering no forgetting driving this 8x8 beast was brand new it was it's first job.

It finally came, in the new year the grass started to grow, which of course now means mowing. Sue mowed 5 times in two weeks and still is pulling out weeds and stones and pebbles.

 

 

 

November brought about change indoors with new Plantation Shutters fitted by Ireland Blinds same people who fitted them to the bathroom. However just as the guys had put the last screw in I noticed a problem, that being they were full length panels right across the Bayview window. The centre panels should have been split height wise to allow access to open the window without moving anything below. They completed installation and ordered the right ones re-installed four weeks latter two weeks before Christmas.

Sue's first Rock Melon something decided it might like it more.

Feeling drained? With all the additional rubbish dumped down the drains during bathroom remodel and tree roots invading pips we had to call in the experts from Don's Plumbing these guy's are first class. We'd had an occasional problem since moving in which they had semi sorted it would last about twelve months, this time they went the whole hog camera, sonar etc to locate exactly where. They found two places and in two days job done.

 

 

 By end of day one the above is how it was left.
 They had commenced the second excavation out the front.

Except for the new concrete you would not know they had been, even racking over where the excavator had driven.

Feeling deflated as I wait for my new manual wheelchair coming from the USA, time for some new tyres and tubes on the old chair. I'd scored 8 new tubes and tyres some time ago tubes were thorn proof much needed in some areas due to what is known as Cat Head thorns. If you have had a Bindi in your foot that's nothing compared to a Cat Head thorn which can pierce through footwear bike tyres and even car tyre if tread is down far enough.

  New Wheelchair it arrived in February Quickie II by name not by arrival time. Sue made 3 new cushion covers as the company could not supply a cushion to suit me. Oh it doe's have foot plate they like all other chairs I've had stay in the car, they only get in the way indoors.

Sue got to complete a quilt she has hand sewn it has taken some years to cut and assemble as well as the intricate hand sewn patter of gum leaves sewn to combine it.

Cooking up a storm in late winter if I recall these were for Custard slice, Mango Cheese Cake x 2 (one still in the freezer), Bread and Jam filled treat.

Sue picked up a dress which she had to soak and remove and set the colour of this is a photo of the dye which came out of it.

Sue made this shawl some time during the year but Lynne was away overseas with Greg when it was sent down. 
All hand dyed, carded, spun and knitted the alpaca came from friends of Lana and Mal Ward whom Lynne and Greg Mal's brother also know.
